RESUME WRITING

A resume is a 30 second advertisement of you. It must differentiate you from all other candidates.

Resume Format
Be concise. Be Clear. Be consistent. Be Error Free.

· Your resume should not be longer than one page unless you have more than 10-years of work experience. Besides, recruiters do not spend time to read the second page of a resume.
· Create at least one-inch margins on your resume and leave some blank space between the sections to increase readability.
· Your name, address, phone number and e-mail address should be located at the beginning of your resume.
· Keep the resume design simple and be consistent with the format of headings, bullet points, etc. throughout your resume.
· Use only one font style. Prefer standard font styles such as Arial and Times New Roman. Font size may vary for emphasis. Use bold fonts for headings.
· Omit personal information such as age, gender, or marital status.
· Use bullet points to emphasize skills and accomplishments as bullets makes easier for employers to scan your resume quickly.
· Convey your thoughts clearly and precisely. Omit using pronouns such as “I” since the use of pronoun “I” is redundant. Instead, use a verb at the beginning of every sentence to make your resume more concise and precise.
